Bride Cancels Her Wedding After Guests Refused To Pay $1,500 To Attend

bride postponed her wedding after guests refused to pay the $1,500 she had charged them to attend.

Weddings are gorgeous and romantic, but they are also extremely expensive.

Many people rely on friends, family, and guests to help pay for the most expensive portions of their wedding day.

But one bride went a step further, charging her guests $1,500 to attend her wedding.

To make matters worse, when guests refused to pay her high cost, she canceled the wedding.

The Canadian woman, named only as Susan, took to social media to explain her controversial decision.

People have been taken aback after reading what she had to say.

One writes: “This speaks volumes about her. If she loved him and I mean truly loved him, she would have been happy with something small and intimate. She’s a selfish self-absorbed woman who deserves every bit of the pushback she got.”

Another agrees, saying: “When you invite families and friends to a wedding, they come to share the happy event with you, they are not expected to finance the event!”

While a third laughs: “It’s her wedding so she can pay for it, not the guests. Lucky escape for this guy!”

Susan indicated that her perfect wedding would cost roughly $60,000, and because she couldn’t afford it, she expected guests to chip in.

She decided to split the expense between them and requested a $1,500 gift from each.

However, many of the wedding guests thought this was unfair.

When they refused to pay the bill, Susan flung her toys out of the pram…

Susan wrote on Facebook: “Dear friends, it comes with great sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of the wedding. I apologise for cancelling only four days beforehand.

“Unfortunately, [fiancé] and I have broken up due to some recent and irreparable problems. We have decided to end our relationship and not go forth with any future proceedings.

“I specifically, I mean specifically, asked for cash gifts. How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding?

“We’d sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500. We talked to a few people who even promised us more to make our dream come true.”

Susan continued: “Our request for $1,500 for all other guests was not f***ing out of the ordinary.

“Like, we made it clear. If you couldn’t contribute, you weren’t invited to our exclusive wedding. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime party.”

Susan claimed that when she grew overwhelmed by the bills, her fiancé recommended an inexpensive elopement instead.

She concluded: “I laughed in his face, but he was dead serious. He wanted those cheap, filthy, w****-like Vegas weddings. I mean WHAT the f***?? Was he out of his mind?”

“My ex left the room and didn’t apologise for his horrid suggestion. I then called my maid of honour and cried my eyes out. Instead of sympathy, I was told that I was asking for way too much and I should stick to the budget.

“How could someone who offered me thousands of dollars then deny me my promised money and then tell me to shift down my budget? She knows my f***ing dream was a blowout wedding.
